As I cleaned out my closet here and began to pack my things, I got to tell my Aunt Mary about my recent Nepalese adventure (I saw the top of the world, Mount Everest!).  She told me all about the state of the western world.  Well, the important stuff, anyways, like the fact that the Braves traded Mark Teixeira.

She commented that I hadn’t posted on my blog or sent as many emails as she had expected.  I think my Dad said the same thing the prior day.  I thought it myself.  I expected I would blog a lot, and email a little.  I’ve probably sent as many mass emails as I’ve posted.

The main reason is internet unavailability and inconvenience.  Besides having to venture out, the connections are slow, the computers are slow, the power goes out for an hour or more every day, the computers have viruses (so composing offline and then uploading is hazardous), the swinging glass doors can pull out your fingernails, and you pay by the half hour.

So, I would have liked to have posted more, but the conditions didn’t really allow.  For that reason, I’ve decided to continue the blog.  I figure I will initially post some of the things I remember from this trip, and move on to communicate new experiences and thoughts.
